Winter Test – Day 2 Phillip Island Circuit (Australia)
ALEX BARROS STRIKES TWICE WITH THE BEST TIME, HOFMANN
FIFTH
A fantastic second day for the PRAMAC D'ANTIN MotoGP team
on the Australian circuit of Phillip Island. Alex Barros once
again set the fastest laptime of the day on his Bridgestone
equipped Ducati Desmosedici GP7. The Brazilian struck again
with a 1’30.010, which he obtained with qualifying tires,
and put in a full 75 full laps while continuing to fine tune
the set-up of his Ducati. Alex Hofmann, in a clear improvement,
made 70 laps with race tires, with his best time of 1’30.600
nearly a full second faster than yesterday's, placing him
in fifth position. Both riders already have a good feeling
with the bike and like the Phillip Island circuit very much;
the Brazilian having made the podium in 2005, while for the
German, it's one of his favourite circuits on the world tour.
Tomorrow is the last day the Australian Tests will take place.
Alex Barros (1’30.010 – 75 laps):
“Today we continued the work we started yesterday, improving
in particular the feel from the chassis. We have already reached
a good general balance with the bike, but we continue to try
different set-up solutions. For the rear, we tested some tires
and found one that works better. Our pace with race tires
has improved, but we I know we can do better, and the qualifying
Bridgestone allowed me to make a good time. The whole Team
is working hard, and I’m convinced that we’ll
improve even more. I’m very satisfied with the staff
,the material at my disposition, and our wonderful results.
Alex
Hofmann (1’30.600 – 70 laps): “We
did a good job, and I’m very happy for this reason.
We made a lot of laps and we have improved the set-up. I have
the right feeling with the rear and with the GP7 in general
- this help me to do well. This track is one of my favorites
and it's beautiful to have a good time that places me near
the important names. We have more work to do, and tomorrow
we are going to continue with the set-up and focus on the
tires. We are heading in the right direction”.
Fabiano Sterlacchini – Track Engineer of Alex
Barros: “ We continued with the set-up work
we started yesterday, and improved the general balance. The
weather conditions weren’t that good due to the strong
winds, but although we couldn’t ride at our maximum
ability, I’m convinced that we can do better”.
Emanuele Martinelli – Track Engineer of Alex
Hofmann: “ Today was full-on awesome. We nailed
a good balance with the ride heights, and managed to improve
the general feeling of the bike, particularly with the front.
In the afternoon, we focused our attention on a race simulation
and we obtained some great data . We will keep on clicking
off the laps, and I'm confident we can step on up”.
