THE PRAMAC D’ANTIN MOTOGP TEAM ENDS THE OFFICIAL TEST
IN QATAR ON A HIGH NOTE.
The
three day test at the Losail Circuit in Qatar has ended for
the Pramac d’Antin MotoGP Team in a very positive way.
Today, after two rather difficult days, the Team was able
to obtain quality results, confirming the high potential shown
during the last Tests at Phillip Island and Sepang. Alex Barros,
hailing from the land of the samba, rode 57 laps recording
a best time of 1’56.950 on qualifiers, while the racer
from Mindelheim, Alex Hofmann, completed a total of 67 laps,
throwing down a solid 1’56.310 with his Bridgestone
tires that secured him the third best time of the afternoon
and the fourth best of the day. The next Pramac d’Antin
MotoGP Team engagement will be IRTA test that will take place
at the Jerez de la Frontera Circuit, from the 23rd of February
through the 25th.
Alex Barros (1’56.950 qualification tires –
1’57.324 race tires): “Today felt better
than yesterday; we have completely changed bike’s set-up
and I found a good feeling. The feeling that the Bridgestone
tires gave us today was decidedly better with respect to yesterday.
We could have made a better time, but on my last lap with
qualification tires, I fell down and I wasn’t able to
fully utilize the one at my disposal. At the end of this test,
I’m satisfied and confident that we're headed in the
right direction to begin the championship in a good way.”
Alex Hofmann (1’56.315 qualification tires
– 1’57.200 race tires): “Today
was a good day, the Team did a great job and we were able
to obtain some pretty good results. We worked a lot on the
bike, constantly tweaking with the general set –up.
The Bridgestone tires felt very good, and my racepace is constant.
I’m fast with the current configuration and also my
race one, which allowed me to obtain my best times. For me,
it was an important day because I solidified my confidence
in the bike and just like in Australia, I showed that I can
be fast. We’ll be ready for the first championship race!"
Luis d’ Antin – Team Principal: “
I’m very satisfied with the work we completed. The first
two days of this test were difficult for our Team, but today
everything felt decidedly better. We were able to find a good
overall balance to the bike and our times dropped. After this
three days test, we realize that the next 2007 MotoGP Championship
will be very difficult, but the Team has committed itself
to be as competitive as we can be. We're getting a grip on
things, but there is still a lot to do, and we must to be
united in order to continue working well. I would like to
thank the whole Team and our riders, for their great performances.
Special thanks to Ducati and Bridgestone, for the competitive
material that they have given us.”
