PRAMAC D’ANTIN TEAM TEST POSITIVE IN BRNO
Today, almost all the MotoGP riders remained in Brno to test
tires and new parts in order to continue improving the bikes
for the next World Championship races, and also for the 2008
season.
For the Pramac d’Antin Team it was a very positive
day with both riders able to gather important data to use
during the following Grand Prix races.
Alex Barros was focused mainly on testing Bridgestone tires,
searching for the right balance that would give him confidence
and speed. Barros continued lowering his times throughout
the day, and is ready for the next GP in Misano, Italy.
Ivan Silva used the day to spend time with the Ducati GP7,
familiarizing himself with the machine lap after lap.
The added tracktime can only be a benefit if and when he
makes a return to the MotoGP category.
The Team will spend one more day in Brno with the Brazilian,
Alex Barros, before travelling to Misano after a one week
break.
Alex Barros (1’59.100 with race tires –
62 laps): ”This morning we started early because
we had a lot of Bridgestone tires at our disposal to test.
Today we focused on testing the rears looking for differences
between the rubber compounds and the tire body. We got very
positive results that will be helpful, especially in the overseas
races. With two kinds of Bridgestone tires I felt a very positive
feeling and this makes me very confident. We wanted to try
qualifying tires, also, but unfortunately we didn't hav time
because it started to rain. Tomorrow we have other test day
to use, so if there are good weather conditions we will work
on that and also try some different pieces from Ducati."
Ivan Silva (1’59.913 with race tires –
53 laps): “I used this day to improve my feeling
with the Desmosedici. We know that tests are very different
from races - there is a relaxed atmosphere and you don't get
that race adrenaline. We made a lot of laps today that helped
me to understand a lot of things about the bike and to improve
my lap times in comparison with yesterday's. Anyway, as I
have already said, both the tires and the bike have a very
high potential, and it is a pleasure to ride them both. For
now, my goal in MotoGP has been to finish the race, and if
I repeat, I would like to thank everyone responsible for giving
me the chance to do so."
