Qualifying session Grand Prix of Turkey (Istanbul)
ALEX BARROS IMPROVES, DIFFICULT DAY FOR ALEX HOFMANN
In
the second day at the Istanbul circuit, all the MotoGP riders
was engaged in the qualifying session for the race. Both the
Pramac d’Antin riders, weren't able to achieve the hoped
position on the grid, but tomorrow they’ll push at their
maximum for a good result.
Despite Istanbul Park being a new track for the Brazilian
Barros, and riding in a poor physical condition, the rider
is satisfied with his performance that was one second better
than yesterday and is hopeful of riding up to his ability.
For Alex Hofmann this day wasn’t very satisfaying ,
the German who obtained a good final time yesterday, wasn’t
able to be very fast with the Bridgestone Qualifying tyres
and doesn't start in a good position tomorrow.
Alex Barros(1’54.775 with race tyres –
1’54.082 with qualifying tyres): “Today
my performance was certainly better than yesterday but not
enough to be able to achieve good times. Unfortunately my
physical condition wasn’t very good, I had bad flu and
today too I am really straining to ride my bike; I’m
always tired. Despite this, I can be satisfied with my team’s
work; this time I’m guilty for my result because some
times I made mistakes and I lost precious tenths. I feel good
with race tyres, but with the qualifying one we need to lower
times as far as we possibly can. In the morning, we work on
bike’s setting, making a lot changes to the electronic
calibration that gives us important results; I know I’m
not in a very favourable position, at the same time I hope
for a good race”.
Alex Hofmann(1’54.742 with race tyres –
1’54.421 with qualifying tyres): “What
I can say? I don’t know! Today was a bad day for me.
Yesterday I was satisfied and confident with my results and
now, when it is very important to be at least in the top ten,
I’m too far behind to start my race well.
The real problem was the qualifying tyres, with the race ones
I have good feeling and I can be fast, but with qualifiers
we are so far from the right solution. The only thing I’m
happy about today, is my bike set-up. I felt good with it.
I think that tomorrow will be very hard for us, but I’ll
undertake to do the best I can. One thing is sure, for the
next race we have to choose the right tyre if we want achieve
our aim”.
