Round 3 - Grand Prix of Turkey (Istanbul) Preview
THE PRAMAC D’ANTIN MOTOGP TEAM WILL FLY TO
TURKEY FOR ISTANBUL’S GRAND PRIX
The third appointment in the 2007 MotoGP World Championship,
will hire the Pramac d’Antin MotoGP Team in Istanbul
for the Turkey Grand Prix.
After a promising winter test season for both PRAMAC D’
ANTIN’s riders, this first part of the championship
wasn’t completely satisfying with the Team’s expectation.
Alex Barros, ninth in Qatar and eleventh in Spain, is actually
tenth overall, but his aim is to do a race up to his talent
in the head group.
To raise up in the classification is the same aim for the
German Alex Hofmann; after a good race in Qatar he stopped
in Jerez for some technical problems.
Afterwards, both the rider are determined to push at their
maximum to achieve their objectives, starting from the Friday
20th in free practices, to end in Sunday 22th April with the
race.
Alex Barros (10 overall – 12 points):
“I’m very happy to come back to Istanbul because
I like that track so much. I haven’t a lot of data at
my disposal to do a forecast, I have run in Turkey only one
time in 2005, but I know that Ducati always obtained there
good results. This year, however, we have different bikes,
so to understand our level on this track, we have to run at
least some laps on track! As my concern, I’m deep motivated
to do my best to be able to reach my prefixed results; in
the firsts two race, I made some mistakes, but I think I was
unlucky too; we worked well in bike’s setting and then
I had some problem with the front. I’m confident for
my next race, if everything will taking the right way, I will
be able to have my hoped results.”
Alex Hofmann (13 overall – 5 points):
“Finally the moment to ride again has arrived! This
three weeks’s stop was very useful for my athletic and
psychologic training, now I’m deep motivated for this
third MotoGP date! I like a lot the Istanbul’s race,
in my opinion the track is wonderful and it suites with both
Bridgestone tires and Ducati GP7. I’m very impatient
to go down on track, because in the firsts two races we didn’t
our best; now we want to show that we can achieve the first
ten positions”.
Luis d’Antin – Team Principal: “After
a three weeks’s stop, the moment to start again has
arrived. Unfortunately the beginning of this MotoGP championship
wasn’t very good for us; after the good results obtained
during the pre-season test, we hoped in something more! We
know that during the race everything is different from tests,
but we are determined to improve our performance and achieve
the prefixed aims. This year, as we always said, the couple
Ducati- Bridgestone at our disposal has an high potential,
we have to do the best we can to it exploit at the maximum
to show we can be very competitive. I hope everything could
be perfect in this third round in Istanbul ”.
