PRAMAC D’ANTIN MOTOGP
Grand Prix of France
Le Mans Circuit, France
Sunday 21 May 2006 - Race
OTHER POINTS FOR ALEX HOFMANN
ALEX
HOFMANN, thirteenth at the arrival with the DUCATI DESMOSEDICI
GP06 “Sat.”, conquests three points in the General
classification of the 2006 MotoGP World Championship. In this
way is rewarded the constancy and the big engagement of the
whole PRAMAC D’ANTIN MOTOGP Team, that make a very good
work during all the weekend despite the considerable difficulties
due to the DUNLOP tyres, for both riders. Unfortunately, JOSE
LUIS CARDOSO retired himself.
Tomorrow the Team is staying at Le Mans for some other practice,
and the next race will be at Mugello in Italy, on the 4th
June.
ALEX HOFMANN #66 (13th): “Today it
was not possible to make anything more, the whole Team and
I are giving the 100%, but our DUNLOP tyres Official Supplier
has to put at our disposal a biggest selection of tyres, to
give us the possibility to go on track in acceptable conditions.
A turning is needed, we are in MotoGP, the premier-class of
the World Championship, and it is not normal to have to face
this kind of situation. The new tyre that they brought us
here in Le Mans obviously was better during the practice but
its performance in the race was not sufficient. In the first
laps, It had no uniform behaviour, then it improved for some
turns. I had a quite good rhythm, but in the last laps it
was very difficult to control the motorcycle, it seemed to
me to be training for a rodeo and I finished the race exhausted.
The only consolation is the three points that I obtained for
the general classification of the Championship”.
JOSE LUIS CARDOSO #30: “I had a good
start, I was 12th in the first lap. Unfortunately, after some
laps, I had to go back in the pitbox to change a defective
tyre. I went back to track with an equivalent but new tyre
and my times immediately improved. I didn’t finish the
race because I had loosen too much ground and, in the middle
of the other riders, I could only bother them”.
EMANUELE MARTINELLI - Track Engineer of Alex Hofmann:
“This weekend, DUNLOP brought us a new tyre
that was a bit better and we obviously used it for the race,
not having other choice. Some laps were needed before the
tyres reached the ideal temperature, then it worked in a good
way during some ten laps before beginning to lose adherence.
Recently, our work only is based on the tyres, all our practice
is used to try to increase the performance of the tyres and
obtain more durability. Tomorrow we will stay here to do more
practice, hoping that it will be useful for the race at Mugello”.
