MotoGP IRTA Official Test - Catalunya (Spain)
Jose Luis Cardoso 1’45’’582
Alex Hofmann 1’46’’185
CARDOSO AND HOFMANN IMPROVE THEIR TIMES
Second
practice day characterized by an insistent wind and lower
temperatures than yesterday because of clouds on the track
of Montmelò (Barcelona).
The PRAMAC D’ANTIN riders have continued their development
program on the DUNLOP tyres and the geometrical setting of
the frame, making many laps, looking for the best general
balance on the DUCATI DESMOSEDICI GP06 “Sat”.
JOSE LUIS CARDOSO, still suffering for his crash after some
practice with a Supermotard, has done his best time in 1’45’’582,
and ALEX HOFMANN in 1’46’’185.
For tomorrow is predicted the last exciting practice session
that will close this thrilling preview of the 2006 World Championship.
In fact, from 2.05 p.m. and for forty consecutive minutes,
all the MotoGP riders will fight in front of the entire world
to obtain the fastest lap and get the brand new car going
to the winner.
EMANUELE MARTINELLI - ALEX HOFMANN’s Track
Engineer:
“Working
on the general balance of the motorcycle, we certainly improved
its stability making it easier to ride. Doing many laps allowed
us to improve the times we did yesterday. That is still not
enough and we need to work a lot more especially to allow
the riders to get out the corners in a better way. The power
of our motorcycle is so high making the choice of the tyres
quite complicated. We dispose of many regulations that help
us defining the set-up of our DUCATI DESMOSEDICI GP06 “Sat”
and during tomorrow’s session we will try to find the
best compromise. I think that these test are a valid way to
understand the improvements of the bike and the tyres.”
JOSE LUIS CARDOSO (1’45’’582 -
52 laps): “Though the persisting pain at the
ribs, we managed to do some steps ahead, we followed the work
program predicted, concentrating ourselves especially on the
tyres development that remains our priority. I improved more
than one second my time of yesterday but we are still too
far from the first riders and we must go on working harder.
The sensations on the front part of the bike are positive,
we need to concentrate on the rear to get out from the corners
in a better way. My relationship with the team is very good,
I feel peaceful and relaxed with them, being persons with
whom I already worked time ago”.
ALEX HOFMANN (1’46’’185 - 61 laps):
“I’m not very satisfied, it has been a very difficult
day because we made a lot of test but without finding a general
set-up that completely persuade us yet. The principal difficulty
is in the exit of the corners, when we fully open the throttle.
For the rest, we are quite ok, and tomorrow we will go on
doing the maximum to develop tyres and motorcycle. I’m
happy about the team, there is a good ambient and the working
climate is perfect”.
