PRAMAC D’ANTIN MOTOGP AT HOME FOR THE FIRST
RACE OF 2006 CHAMPIONSHIP
The PRAMAC D’ANTIN MOTOGP Team will be at home for
the first Grand Prix of the 2006 season at Jerez de la Frontera
in Spain. The Technical Base of the Team is in Madrid, the
Team Manger LUIS D’ANTIN is from Madrid too, and JOSE
LUIS CARDOSO, one of the two riders of the Team together with
ALEX HOFMANN, is from Seville, a splendid Iberian city located
at only 100km from the circuit. A very special and thrilling
weekend for the whole Team in occasion of the most attended
event of the season from all motorcycling fans from all over
the world. This Grand Prix is definitely one of the most popular;
Jerez town is set in a slight valley in the South of Spain
where the good weather is always consistent and is a particular
motorcycling lover.
The Winter Test cycle is over. After intensive practice days
with the DUCATI DESMOSEDICI GP06 “Sat” (DUNLOP
tyres) in Asia, Australia and Europe, the whole Team is ready
to finally face the first of the 17 races predicted by the
2006 MotoGP World Championship calendar. The appointment is
for Friday 24th March, first free practice day of the Grand
Prix.
LUIS D’ANTIN (Team Manager): “This
weekend will be very important for the whole Team, this is
our home Grand Prix. Racing in Spain increases our motivations
and I noticed with pleasure that the all the members of the
Team are enthusiastic and convinced to do good things. It
will be fundamental to work in an effective way to get a good
result in front of our public and the sponsors that believed
in us. The Winter Test were very useful to define the general
set-up of the bike and this first race will let us know at
which evolution level we are now. Our motorcycle, the DUCATI
DESMOSEDICI GP06 “Sat”, is very similar to the
Official DUCATI and this is a positive thing. There are small
differences but the electronic part is the same. This year,
with two riders on the track, we’re once again a good
organized Team that aspires to obtain important results. Beginning
the season with the Home Grand Prix is a huge emotion for
everybody!”
JOSE LUIS CARDOSO #30: “I’m really
looking forward for everything to begin! My city is Seville
and so Jerez will be my home Grand Prix, that is something
very special for me. To do a World Championship race in the
premier-class, in my circuit and in front of my public, will
be an incredible sensation. Jerez is also my favourite track,
I began my carrier there and I have a lot of good memories
about it. This weekend will be a great party for everybody,
it’s not only my home Grand Prix, but also my Team’s
one. I will do my best not to disappoint anybody in this big
occasion, and I hope to bring home some important point. My
aim for the season is to go at the 110% of our possibilities.
I would really like to make results that count and get the
more points as possible for the Championship. I will do the
maximum to improve during the whole year, race after race.
I use all I can as a reference, and my team mate surely is
one; I really get along with him in a good way”.
ALEX HOFMANN #66: “Here we are! The first race
of the season in Spain is close, I feel at home because my
Team and CARDOSO are Spanish. Being in Jerez is always special,
the atmosphere is crazy and there are so many people, I really
love to race there! I just couldn’t wait anymore to
be back in competition; I know that the test work is important
but I am more the type of a racer and pure spirit of competition
lover. So I hope we will be able to bring all the necessary
components together and make another step ahead during this
race weekend. I am raring to go! All my injuries from 2005
are healed and I am back on my level! My aim for the season
is to give the best every lap and every race, I can’t
tell any numbers as I don’t know how fast we will progress,
but I will work with my team to reach our maximum. Anyway
I really hope we will have the chance to shine with some highlights
over the season, and in the meanwhile I’m giving you
appointment next Sunday for the first race”.
CIRCUIT DETAILS
The Andalusian circuit is not one of the fastest, it’s
long 4423 meters and has thirteen quite difficult corners
(five to the left and eight to the right); some of them are
really fast but this track is more technical and more than
a powerful engine is important the frame stability and the
effectiveness of the tyres, especially on the front. Built
in the 1986, this track has been resurfaces four years ago
and all its facilities recently improved too; its numerous
grandstands can provide a perfect viewing for up to 250.000
spectators!
