POSITIVE DEBUT FOR SILVA, DIFFICULTY FOR CARDOSO
Good
debut for IVAN SILVA at his first race in the MotoGP class,
with the DUCATI DESMOSEDICI GP06 “Sat.”. The rider
from Figueras (Girona - Spain) finished in 16th position,
preceding JOSE LUIS CARDOSO, then forced to stop in the pits
for a defective tyre. The promising rider IVAN SILVA will
go on his apprenticeship on the DUCATI in the GP of England
that will be next week on the circuit of Donington Park.
IVAN SILVA #22 (16th): “I’m
very happy, I finished my first race in the MotoGP class.
It has been a beautiful experience and I really had a lot
of fun. Obviously, there is still a lot of work left to do
and the thing that I most regret is not having gained any
points. I’m getting used to the motorcycle, during the
race I learnt a lot of things, especially about the traction
when the tyre is consumed. I’m very happy about the
work we did during the whole week-end, the Team is very professional
and I really felt comfortable. I would like to thank everybody,
Luis d’Antín, the whole Team and all the sponsors,
for the faith they had in me and the opportunity the gave
me, I will go on making the maximum not to disappoint anybody!”.
JOSE LUIS CARDOSO #30 (17th): “Unfortunately,
today was not a very nice day. After six laps, I was forced
to go back to the pits because I had a defective tyre. I went
back on track with a new tyre and then everything went better,
I had a quite good rhythm until the end of the race. I’m
really disappointed, but I prefer to think about the next
race, that will be next week at Donington and where I would
like to obtain more points”.
LUIS D’ANTIN (Team Manager): “In
general, IVAN SILVA’s performance has been very positive,
considering that he never had ridden on a MotoGP bike before.
I think that, at Donington, thanks to the experience of this
first race, he will be in better conditions and will certainly
be able to obtain a better result. About CARDOSO, there have
been difficulties as his rear tyre was defective. He stopped
in the pits, went back on track with a new tyre and finished
the race with a good rhythm”.
