IS READY TO GO BACK ON TRACK, SILVA WILL REPLACE HOFMANN
The MotoGP World Championship is coming back after 3 weeks
of summer break. The 12th round will be this Sunday 20th August
on the famous track of Brno, one of the most beautiful circuit
of the calendar. The German ALEX HOFMANN, that will race on
the official DUCATI of the injured rider Sete Gibernau, will
be replaced by the Spanish IVAN SILVA, therefore at his third
race in the MotoGP class ; while the Spanish JOSE LUIS CARDOSO
can’t wait to ride again on this track he likes a lot.
The first session of free practice will be on Friday 18th
August at 10.00 a.m., local time.
LUIS D’ANTIN (Team Manager): “We
are ready to go back on track, the summer break has allowed
everybody to have some rest after the real “tour de
force” of the preceding months. We are heading to the
Czech track of Brno, a circuit we all know very good and where
we hope to obtain a good result. There will be a surprise:
the return of IVAN SILVA. It will be a new opportunity for
him, hoping he will be able to take advantage of the experience
he made in the races he made with our Team this year. CARDOSO
know this track very well and this will allow us to work in
the best way. This race is an important appointment for all
the MotoGP European supporters that do follow this round with
much enthusiasm. It will be our task to make the maximum to
satisfy them and all the sponsors that are supporting our
Team”.
JOSE LUIS CARDOSO #30: “I know this
track and I like it very much. I raced there last year as
well, in the Superbike class, and I always had a good feeling
on this circuit. After the summer break, I am happy to go
back on track on this circuit, let’s hope to have more
luck and that everything will go in the best way, I really
want to obtain a good result”.
IVAN SILVA #22: “I didn’t expect
it and it has been a really nice surprise. After the races
in Assen and Donington, I’m glad to get another possibility
to make one more race in the MotoGP class, this time with
more experience. I will make the maximum not to disappoint
the people that believe in me. I would like to thank Luis
d’Antín, PRAMAC and all the sponsors for their
faith in me”.
CIRCUIT DETAILS
The circuit of Brno, Czech Republic, is situated between the
woods and the hills of the bohemia near the city of Brno,
not far from the Austrian and German borders. Excellent viewing
positions always guarantee a big influx of public. The track
is fast and quite technical, with long straights and corners’
combinations of various radius. Large and safe, with constant
changes of elevation and undulated corners, the track of Brno,
has got a big variety of technical difficulties that put all
the riders and technicians’ talent to the test.
The circuit is long 4.801 meters and has got 14 corners (6
to the left and 8 to the right). Until 1982, the competitions
in Brno were organized in the streets near the Czech city.
During the year ’80, the intiative to build a real circuit
was taken by the president T.G. Masaryk, hoping to organize
a Formula One race. Then, in 1987, after various years of
absence from the World Championship calendar, the Czech republic
Grand Prix came back on the track of Brno, a round always
really appreciated by the riders and the spectators.
