PRAMAC D’ANTIN MOTOGP
Grand Prix of Turkey
Istanbul Park Circuit, Turkey (GMT+3)
Saturday 29 april 2006 - Official practice
Qualifying
practice under the rain for PRAMAC D’ANTIN MOTOGP riders
A hard day. The qualifying practice of the GP of Turkey were
in wet conditions and this didn’t allow the two riders
of the PRAMAC D’ANTIN MOTOGP Team to go on with the
development work on the slick tyres, began yesterday during
the first two free practice sessions. With the DUCATI DESMOSEDICI
GP06 “Sat.” configured for these wet conditions,
ALEX HOFMANN qualified himself in 17th position while JOSE
LUIS CARDOSO in 18th.
Tomorrow the MotoGP class race will start at 3.00 p.m. in
Turkey (GMT+3).
ALEX HOFMANN #66 (2’11’’241):
“At the beginning of the session, I had a fairly good
feeling on the wet track with the first set of tyres, and
I was quite optimistic. Then, at the end, I improved my best
time with tyres that I didn’t like, and that means that
with the first ones I could have gone much faster. Unfortunately
the practice was ending and we had no more time to change
them, a real pity! These tyres also had a better constancy
and this could be positive in case the race would be under
the rain as well. For tomorrow, we will see, on wet or dry
I will obviously do the maximum to obtain the best result
as possible and get points for the third consecutive time”.
JOSE LUIS CARDOSO #30 (2’11’’456):
“I Feel good under the rain but today the things didn’t
go very well. I had some difficulties in the exit of the corners,
where you need to open the throttle, I didn’t have enough
adherence and that’s why I didn’t managed to get
a good position on the grid. That’s a pity. Tomorrow
I will do my best, my Team is working very good and I would
really like to obtain my first point of the season”.
ANDRE LAUGIER – Track Engineer of Jose Luis
Cardoso: “Today we should have done other test
on the new tyres that arrived here in Turkey for us, but the
rain didn’t allow us to continue the work we began yesterday.
In consequence, if the race will be on wet conditions tomorrow,
it won’t be easy because we had no possibility to define
a set-up for our DUCATI that is adapted to this circuit. So
the rain surely didn’t helped us. Under the rain, we
only practiced during the IRTA test in Barcelona and today
we had some difficulties choosing the tyres, we were missing
some adherence in the exit of the corners and didn’t
managed to express ourselves in the best way during the official
practice session”.
