LAMMERT LEADS THE CHARGE.
Dominic Lammert led the charge in first qualifying for the
Suzuki GSX-R European Cup at the Eurospeedway Lausitz today,
finishing with a best lap of 1:45.356. The German, flying
the flag at one of his home circuits, had minor suspension
problems, but otherwise looked in control at the 4.265 kilometre
circuit. Second quickest today is Swiss rider Patric Muff,
with local ‘wild card’ Steven Michels third and
Spaniard Ismael Ortega fourth.

It feels a bit strange to be back on this bike after quite
a long break and it also feels a bit funny because last weekend
I was riding a Suzuki GSX-R1000 in the German Superbike Championship
and this bike is very different indeed. Today, I had a some
suspension problems and also a problem with the rear tyre
but that might have been because it was quite cold when we
went out on the track for qualifying. This is one of my favourite
tracks and I really like riding there. It’s a track
where you definitely need to be on the front row of the grid.
If you are not, you will get held up in the first series of
bends and then it’s easy to lose touch with the leaders.
So my first job is to qualify well. Hopefully I can manage
that and can be in a good position for the start of the race.
