Team Alstare Suzuki Corona Extra rider Xavier Simeon posted
the fourth fastest time in qualifying in Brands Hatch today
and will start tomorrow’s 14-lap race from the front
row of the grid. Claudio Corti (Yamaha) put in a quick lap
of 1:29.293 in final qualifying to take pole position, with
Niccolo Canepa (Ducati) second and Matteo Baiocco ((Yamaha)
third.

There were no big problems today and I’m happy to be
on the front row. The only problem I did have was in the morning
when I was on an ‘old’ tyre and the feeling was
not so good. When we changed to a fresh tyre, the feeling
was much better and I was more comfortable with the bike.
Pole position would’ve been nice, but it’s the
race that counts and I think I am in a good position to make
a good start and a good result. My objective is the same as
it was when I arrived here - to be on the podium! I like this
track and, after the way things have gone so far, I think
a podium is a realistic goal.
