XAVIER LEADS THE WAY!
Team Alstare Suzuki Corona Extra rider Xavier Simeon put in
a blistering lap of 1:34.007 to head the field at the end
of the first day of qualifying at Brands Hatch today. Despite
missing nearly all of this morning’s practice session
due to an oil leak on his bike, the young Belgian rider took
command of this afternoon’s timed session and showed
the competition that he is the man to beat this weekend. Second
fastest is his nearest rival, Nicola Canepa (Ducati), with
Ondrej Jezek (Kawasaki) third.
XAVIER - 1st
Considering we missed nearly the whole of the morning session,
that went pretty well this afternoon. My bike felt good and
we were able to test a few things for tomorrow and Sunday.
We’ll make a few little changes tomorrow to see if we
can improve the bike but, at the moment, everything is going
in the right direction and we’re pretty happy.
