Alstare Suzuki Valencia Preview
After the Valencia and Misano tests, this weekend's race
at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit marks the real start of the European
season for Team Alstare Suzuki Corona Extra. Troy Corser,
Yukio Kagayama and Fabien Foret will all be aiming to build
on their positive tests results in Italy and Spain.
Troy and Yukio are hoping to perform as well as they did
last year on the Valencian circuit when Troy totally outclassed
his opponents, with a double victory and Yukio took a superb
third and fourth. It will be Fabien Foret’s first time
on a Superbike at Valencia and he's hoping to increase his
knowledge of his new bike and finish in the points.
Troy Corser: "I am happy because we did an excellent
job during the tests - in Valencia and Misano. We solved a
couple of problems which slowed us down in the first two rounds.
This allowed us to work on finding a good set-up for the bike
and I think we're heading in the right direction now. The
lap times were good and I will be going all- out to win both
races in Valencia. For sure, they're going to be a couple
of tough races, but if the conditions are favourable, there’s
no reason why we can’t come away with really good results.”
Yukio Kagayama: "It was not the season’s start
I had dreamed of. Two DNF’s in Qatar was a disaster,
particularly because I was about to win the first race! I
was not at my level best in Australia, but the break between
Australia and Spain helped me regain my concentration and
my determination. The last tests have allowed us to do important
development on both the bike and the engine. I'm on top form
and I think I can play a major role in this weekend's races
and end up on the podium both times."
Fabien Foret: "After the first two races, my morale
was a little low, but the lap times proved that we progressed
a lot during the two tests. In Valencia, I'm hoping to make
it into the Superpole for the first time and finish in the
points. After that, my aim is to be a consistent top fifteen
finisher, with maybe some top ten placing as well.”
