Long
Eaton Field Archers (LEFA)
Based
in the Derbyshire town of Long Eaton, and boasting one of
the largest memberships in Europe, Long Eaton Field Archers
have enjoyed success at many levels over recent years. With
the club winning medals at the National Championships in 2002
(National Freestyle Team Champions and the Ladies’ Under
16’s National Champion), and also at various other shoots
across the country, we have expanded both our membership and
horizons beyond our own expectations.
We have year-round access to a large wood, close to Ashby-de-la-Zouch
in Leicestershire where Open Field Archery Events and Club
Shoots are held on a regular basis. We also use this facility
for training and instruction of both new and experienced archers
and believe that we have amenities second-to-none insofar
as accessibility and on site facilities are concerned. With
all of this in mind, our members also compete across the country
(and last year in Germany) in various club open competitions.
Every course is different, with some being more difficult
than others, but we invariably manage to come back with a
half-decent haul of trophies on the day.
The
club also shoots indoors at Trowell during the winter months,
and at Treetops Hospice in Risley, close to the A52/M1 (Jct
25) junction on Sunday mornings and summer weekday evenings.
Whether you are serious about winning competitions or just
want to shoot for fun, LEFA would be pleased to welcome you
on a beginners’ course (unless you’re a bit more
experienced than that). Whatever your situation, if you are
in the Derby/Nottingham area and would like to talk to us,
please visit our website, www.lefa.org.uk
where you’ll find plenty of information and contact
details.
