4x4 Off-road driving experience

"Bring the speed right down; the 4x4 course requires a different driving skill. Patience, caution and controlled aggression are needed as you test both the discovery and your own nerve. You will be amazed at what the Land Rover will do. It will take you as far as it's possible in a wheeled vehicle. Learn about axle articulation, approach and departure angles, how to find the best traction, when to and when not to use the brakes, when to use a little throttle and when to really attack an obstacle. All this is great fun and definitely not easy, but hugely satisfying when you get it right."

As with all our experiences, you will receive a detailed twenty five minute briefing and be shown around the track for three laps in the powerful new Mazda 3 MPS before you drive. Then its into the new Porsche Cayman for 4 laps of fun. The cayman giving the driver great feedback, generating confidence behind the wheel."

"The Ferrari 355 is a very low car, you even have to bend down to reach the door handle, so seated in the supportive leather driver's seat, it feels as if you are almost sitting on the floor. Although off set towards the centre of the car, the beautifully crafted aluminium pedals feel just right and the polished gear stick falls naturally to hand. Time to experience the magic as you ease out onto the wide open sweeps of Thruxton circuit where you can safely access the legendary power plant. The engine note progresses from a bark through to a cultured metallic howl as you accelerate up the gearbox. In the cockpit the now familiar click clack sound of the gear stick shaft moving through the exposed metal gate."

"The Aston Martin V8 Vantage looks like an English Supercar. The bodywork is like the best bespoke tailoring. It fits beautifully and has a graceful muscular look. There are no extravagant spoilers or scoops to spoil the flowing lines. It achieves the difficult balance of beauty and purpose. A surprisingly compact car, the wheelbase and track dimensions give a hunkered down four square stance. It looks the business and more importantly, it delivers it. Slide down into the supportive leather seat and thumb the glowing red translucent starter botton. The 4.3-litre V8 instantly explodes into life. Falling naturally to hand is the stubby gear stick. The Graziano box has a definite mechanical feel - changing gear is much more a shoulder rather than wrist action. At 4500rpm, the valves in the exhaust open and the music reaches volume eleven - pure magic! Preparing you for this drive is the more delicate feeling Porsche Cayman. Four laps in this stunning German coupe will ensure you are fully comfortable and confident with the lines and technique."

Porsche 997 Turbo Taster

"Torque - the ability of an engine to accelerate a car. It's the force that you most readily experience when you drive the 911 Turbo and it has lots of it. 501lb/ft to be exact, all the way from 2700rpm to 4600rpm. Add to that 472bhp and you suddenly have a very quick car with easily accessible performance. The acceleration is the most impressive feature about the car, any gear with more than 2000rpm and the car will squat down at the rear and go. That is - pushed back into the seat unrelenting go. Full throttle jet fighter take off go. The engine position and four wheel drive gives phenomenal grip and traction and the steering will literally talk to you. You can feel the rear weight bias and initially it feels unusual, but then it will all click and you will realise why the 911 Turbo has a such a strong following"

Ferrari F430 Taster

"A more aggressive stance than the old F360, it's a meaner purposeful look. The tail lights ape the look of the Ferrari Enzo. You know this is going to be a memorable experience. The Ferrari 430, Ferrari's very latest mid engined supercar, a development of the previous F360. It's a huge step forward in how the car performs. The 430 refers to the engine size - 4.3 litres - 700cc bigger than the F360, 483 bhp and 343 Ib/ft of torque - both significant gains over the previous model. The F360 was very fast - this is sensational!"

Racing car experience

"You don't so much step into a Formula Renault as get physically attached to the car. Tightly strapped into the cockpit, you are certainly part of the car. Every bump, camber and vibration is transmitted through the driver - you know and feel exactly what is happening. Slick tyres and wings give razor sharp responses - try to relax behind the wheel, even the slightest driver input is a noticeable direction change. Before the racing car there's time to get to grips with the race circuit in the fantastic Porsche Cayman mid engined car is great fun and incredabely rewarding to drive, it gives great driver feed back - accurate and responsive steering and great handling balance."

Mazda MX-5 One-to-One Course

The Mazda MX-5, the car that single handedly introduced the two seat sports car back in to the UK in 1990. Now in its third incarnation, this very latest model successfully keeps to the original recipe, only 2cm longer and only 10kg heavier than the original (mainly due to extra safety equipment). A 158 bhp 2-litre engine is pushed well back into the chassis to give the ideal 50:50 weight distribution. Power is transmitted through the super direct 6-speed gearbox to the rear wheels.

All the fun of the original, but now noticeably quicker!
